Millions of Aussies are set for a warm start to theEaster long weekend before showers cause temperatures to plunge in some states.
A cold front is expected to sweep across southern Western Australia on Friday before making its way to the southeast on Sunday.
This means cooler-than-average temperatures are expected for the southern states, particularly in Victoria, South Australia, the ACT and Tasmania.
Senior Meteorologist Angus Hines warned there was a chance of heavy rain along the northern WA coast in the aftermath of Tropical Cyclone Errol, which is currently sitting 500km off the Kimberley Coast.
'From Thursday, Tropical Cyclone Errol could steer south-eastwards back towards the coast,' Mr Hines told Daily Mail Australia.
'While it is forecast to weaken, while doing so, it may bring impacts such as heavy rain, thunderstorms and damaging wind to parts of the Kimberly and Eastern Pilbara over the weekend.'
Meanwhile, the Northern Territory can anticipate a warm Easter, although the far south could see a bit of a cool change on Sunday.
Sydney will be blue skies for most of the weekend with temperatures expected to climb into the high 20s, following a week of cooler autumn weather in the low 20s.
The Bureau of Meteorology expects a cool change to sweep Australia's south from Sunday
Some showers in Sydney are expected on Saturday and Sunday.
Although Queensland is set for a sunny and dry Easter, widespread major flooding is still impacting the south-west as well as north-east South Australia, and northern New South Wales.
Mr Hines warned that 'significant flooding is likely to continue for weeks to come, as floodwaters move slowly downstream'.
Despite the flooding elsewhere in the state, Brisbane will see sunny weather in the high 20s, with a maximum of 31C forecast for Easter Monday.
Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra and Hobart will see a cool change from Sunday, with some wet weather also expected.
Adelaide will bear the brunt of the cool change with temperatures plummeting from a steamy 30C on Friday to the low 20s on Saturday.
Western Australia will be blessed with blue skies with temperatures expected to range from the low to mid 20s to the low 30s.
