Yep, last night was indeed “The Bogeyman”, so I assume tonight will be series 3 episode 1, as the epg synopsis on Sky has stopped listing series and episode numbers for whatever reason (they were listed up to s2 e9).

To be fair, Dempsey's supposed to be annoying. He's one of those people who, I imagine, would get right on your nerves if you had to spend your days working with him! That being said, I find him entertaining to watch. I think the humour takes some of the edge off what could be quite an abrasive character (ditto Spikings - his scenes are often peppered with humour, which makes him an engaging character, who it's easy to feel sympathy for when he's having to deal with Dempsey). In fact, I think the humour, along with the obvious chemistry between the two leads and the overall quality of the acting from pretty much everyone in the regular cast (and the majority of the guest actors) is what elevates D&M above your typical action/cop series.

Due to other commitments I’ve not had time to compare the ITV4 screenings with the last few Forces episodes for cuts, but hope to review some of them in the next few days. Meanwhile here’s a little continuity error from “The Hit”, last nights Forces episode. When Dempsey and Harry jump in the Daimler and set off in pursuit of Delaney, the front number plate is flapping around and hanging on by one screw, but when they catch up with him it’s reattached itself and is fixed firmly in the correct position......
That's a shame . Personally speaking, I prefer to watch Dempsey and Makepeace for my lust of Glynis Barber. But each to their own.

Don't worry, I will be posting more details of cuts made to the ITV4 showings in due course. The obvious one being that ITV shhowed the season three opener The Burning as a feature length episode, whereas Forces have shown it as origimnally seen in two seperate episodes. Therefore ITV omitted all the backgrouns shots whilst the titles were playing at the start of episode 2, it goes from coltrane saying Dempsey is just the man for the job, to where the two men walk into view and one of them says 'go', in order to start the dry run of the robbery.
Also after Butch has been shot, when Dempsey returns to the depot and finds him and asks "what happened", Butch replies "The bastards....they shot her". Unlike other uses of the word throughout the series, where scene were physically edited or removed completely, this time ITV simply overdubbed "The bastards" with silence.

The other point of note re The Burning is that the two episodes on Forces had a combined running time of 1hr 39 mins, whilst the ITV version was 1hr 35, most of this can be accounted for by the removal of the closing credits from part 1 and the 'previously...' sequence and opening titles from the start of part 2.

Usual language cuts for the b word in Jericho Scam, most notably with several edits to the end scene where Dempsey is up on the scaffolding telling Harris he’s worked out what’s going on.

Tonight’s episode, Bird Of Prey, one major cut when shown on ITV is when Lyman goes into the bar looking for Annie, it cuts from George asking “what do you want”? to Lyman taking the money from the till and picking up the car keys, the part where he hits Clive (the black guy) was removed completely. This affects the continuity a little later on as when George admits to Dempsey that Lyman had been in earlier, you still see Clive with the head wound whilst George says that Lyman had tried to attack Clive, even though you didn’t see him do so in the previous scene.
Also as usual the line when Kevin calls Lyman a bastard was removed, as was Spikings use of “that bastard Burton” early on. The fight between Kevin and Lyman was also trimmed slightly, and when Dempsey shouts “police” and shoots Kevin, the reaction shot of Kevin falling backwards and crashing into the furniture was also removed. Plus a couple of minor trims to the final shootout at the caravan, so a fair bit cut and/or edited from this episode when it was on ITV4.

Picked up what could be called a minor continuity error in the episode "Mantrap". Spikings mentions "The Elephant" (as in Elephant And Castle). Dempsey asks Harry "What's the elephant"?, and she has to explain what and where it is. However in a previous episode the base is on the radio asking where they are. Dempsey says "Yo, where we headin'"?, and Makepeace replies "Elephant and Castle". So in Mantrap it's not as though he hadn't heard the term before, but he still had to ask Makepeace about it. Unless he'd just forgotten of course.

I overlook that. Forgotten how rather lovely young Michael Brandon is to look at.

Forces don't waste any time in repeating things as they're showing it again starting a week on Monday, 30th November.

...or maybe Mantrap was made before the other episode and got swapped round in the broadcast order?
What was the the title of the other episode? -

Well ITV 4 are showing D&M again. Given To Acts of Violence has it's climax that pays tribute to the Moonraker pre titles scene. Anyone notice that Lady Harriet twice kills female baddies trying to make a getaway in cars , the episodes being Hors de Combat and Blood Money.

What was the the title of the other episode?I can’t remember which was the other episode that mentioned the Elephant offhand but I’ll come up with it at some point. The Forces screening order (and that of ITV4 a few weeks earlier) was the same as the original broadcast order so if Mantrap and the other episode were swapped it was done back in the eighties and has been like that ever since.

Enjoying watching this series again, 36 years on,. A bit late to the party and disappointed that I only realised it was on ITV4 in January, the last episode of this run is later this week.
I thought Dempsey looked hot and totally gorgeous back then, and I still think the same now. Michael Brandon was ideal for the role, his own humour shines out and he surely had licence to change the script, some of his lines are pure gold.
Glynis and Michael are both aging very well, what a wonderful stroke of fate that they were cast in the programme, he being brought over from the USA for the role ......... and they are still together.
I didn;t realise that Ray Smith was no longer with us ......... in one episode he was quite offended that they didn't know he was Welsh!!

I recall noticing that on it's original showing, and we had a great laugh as a family thinking how one of them must have climbed out to fix it - all in a micro-second as they sped around a corner, of course! Watch from 39mins in:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=550Ec-GT7NcWe also likened it to the infamous 'car-flip' scene in Diamonds Are Forever:

Hated it when first shown, so have no intention of trying it this time around.
For some reason, it passed me by originally.
However, I have quite enjoyed the re-runs and seems like a bit of a precursor to Spooks.

Was Dempsey and Makepeace made in HD, I swear I remember reading that somewhere, also Forces are they showing it as broadcast I noticed the cue dots not sometimes match the part Enders, which would suggest Forces have been editing these in themselves.

If by cue dots you're meaning ad breaks, when originally shown, it had two ad breaks. Nowadays, there's three breaks.
