Not great but if it gives us a break from Minder The Sweeney and Quincy then I’m all for it.

I last saw this show on ITV 3 more than a decade ago. Robin of Sherwood was on ITV Encore.

I never bought Dempsey and Makepeace on DVD as I read they were slightly cut. Apparently they were uncut in some obscure place like Portugal.
I’m guessing it will be still censored in the afternoon. Wasn’t it originally an 8 or 9pm program ?

(8) I used to think Glynis Barber was so pretty, I wanted to be her Dempsey And Makepeace rerun! (9) I used to fancy Michael Brandon too Dempsey And Makepeace rerun! (10)

Thanks so much for this heads-up!

I’ve been wanting to watch this again for a long time.
I was allowed to stay up late on a Friday night to watch it first time round.

I wanted to be Makepeace when I grew up & I had such a crush on Dempsey 😀

Probably the first different shows to air on ITV3 since 2005!

Maybe the output from Forces TV & TPTV have given them a much needed kick up the backside.

I'd forgotten all about this series until some sarcy person the other day, under a picture of a gun brandishing American middle-aged husband and wife, wrote that they didn't like the look of the Dempsey and Makepeace reboot!

Never really got into it as a teen and had no idea it ran for 3 series. Attractive couple though and nice to find out, after a quick google, that they're still together IRL. Might have a gander even if just to see if the titles and theme ring any bells. Vague memories that it was amiable enough entertainment. Also had no idea that Michael Brandon was married for a while to a childhood crush...Lindsay Wagner. Lucky git.

(Actually remember him being interviewed during filming of Doctor Who a while back and he came across really well, so I'll let him off!)

I always thought Dempsey and Makepeace should be a staple of ITV4 scheduling alongside The Sweeney, The Professionals etc. Surprised it's taken them this long!

I remember the episode featuring Suzi Quatro, whose character stalked Dempsey

Ray Smith who played their boss Spikings was a regular character in Public Eye a series that has been shown on Talking Pictures.

Would've thought it was a bit 'fast' for TPTV?

Don't they tend to go for 'slower' stuff?

On the Suzi Quatro episode, didn't Lis Sladen make an appearance in the same episode?

I always seem to remember the picture quality being poor when this was originally on TV. Is it better on DVD?

Not really. I don't think it's been remastered or anything like that.

    Great series though.

This series was edited slightly for the DVD? Now I want to know why.

Well it was made 36 years ago, of course it's dated Dempsey And Makepeace rerun! (28)

I still like watching it, it takes me back to my childhood!

Some shows stand the test of time though.

I wish it wasn't on every day. I'm recording it but reckon i'll delete a few and watch a few as its going to clog up my planner!

I haven't seen this since the 80s! I might give it a go for old times sake.
